A group of Swedish photographers—comprising authors and educators—embarked on a tour of abandoned buildings across the American Rust Belt. Their itinerary included cities such as New York, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Detroit. To maximize their time, they hand-selected local photographers from the Flickr community to serve as personal guides. Cleveland boasted a thriving urban exploration scene at the time, and I was honored to be chosen. To ensure my full availability, they offered to cover my hourly wages and all expenses. I immediately called in sick to work, clearing my schedule for the next two days.
